ROHS Athletics would like to announce the hiring of Coach Paddison as our new Head Varsity Boys’ Hockey Coach.
Coach Paddison is “honored to have the opportunity to coach, teach, and mentor, the upstanding young men that make up this team”; and is “enthusiastically looking forward to hitting the ice.” Coach Paddison grew up playing hockey in metro-Detroit, before leaving for Wisconsin and then west-Michigan, in pursuit of both higher education and furthering his hockey career.
Coach Paddison began his coaching career in 2004, working with Kalamazoo based travel teams and skills development programs. His coaching resume ranges from teams at the youth, High School, College Club, and Junior levels; including a stint as an Assistant Coach with Royal Oak High School during the 2015-16 season, in which the team captured the first Conference Championship in Ravens’ Hockey history.
Looking to build a program on the principles of discipline and community, Coach Paddison’s expectation is to set the standard for excellence and professionalism in high school athletics; establishing the Ravens Hockey Team as a pillar of pride, for not only Royal Oak High School, but for the community of Royal Oak as a whole.
Away from the rink, Coach Paddison is employed as an attorney with the City of Detroit Law Department and can be found on the golf course during the majority of the off-season.
Coach Paddison on his goals during the 2017-18 season: “The goal for this season will focus on redefining how we measure success. Our emphasis will be on the process by which we reach our goals, rather than the goals themselves. If we can develop the discipline to measure success through each task completed and each skill improved, with an unwavering attention to detail, there is no limit to what this team can achieve.”
Athletic Director Don Watchowski: “We are excited to bring Coach Paddison into the Raven Athletic Family. We are confident that his experience and knowledge of Hockey and player development, combined with a passion for coaching and mentoring, will benefit our Athletes immensely. His focus on communication and discipline will set the foundation for the future growth of our Hockey program.”
There will be an introductory/informational meeting for all ROHS Hockey Athletes and Parents on Wednesday October 11th, 6:30pm, in the ROHS Multimedia Room.
